Modern Mediterranean: Finishes
One of the things I’ve been thinking about a lot for this renovation has been the finishes. What are the finishes you ask? Well, it includes everything from the material on the floor to the color of the faucet and the texture on the walls. With this renovation, I’m not buying any new furniture and instead focusing on the finishes to create a base for later. I want them to feel luxurious, but not fussy, be high quality, but not too expensive. I want everything to be thoughtfully selected and expressive, able to stand on its own but complement everything else in the house. I also want the rooms to be cohesive, but not identical. With these lofty goals, I’ve started putting things together in sets to see how they fit. While these are a mere first draft and will change along the way, I wanted to show the thought process behind picking things.
And of course since I’m working with Bessie and we’re the photoshoot queens, we decided to give the materials their day in the spotlight. We wanted to see if we could add more dimension to the traditional interior design flat lay, and I think we succeeded. Can you guess which material layout is for which part of the house?
